PROJECTS

LINE DEVELOPMENT

Reign & Research

In this group project, we designed the Reign & Research clothing line for millennial women working in outdoor research fields. These seven pieces cover the range of clothing that would be worn in wet conditions during the spring and summer seasons, including a lab coat with a detachable hood, zip-off pants with large cargo pockets and utility rings, and a quarter-zip rain jacket with a large front pocket. All of these additions are meant to make clothing more functional for the wearer. The research completed for this project is consistent with the current, forecasted trends, including colors and prices.

GRAPHIC DESIGN

NC State T-Shirt Design Contest

Each year, my university hosts a t-shirt design contest. All creations must lie within the branding specifications and follow the criteria assigned to the individuals who choose to participate. My design incorporates many 3D blocks spelling out NC STATE. I was inspired by the atmosphere of the urban buildings which make up downtown Raleigh, NC where NC State is located.

FLAT PATTERN MAKING

Floral Romper

I was given the opportunity to design a custom apparel item of my choice, and I found inspiration in the season of Spring. I was responsible for drafting a custom sloper and creating all the pattern pieces for the final piece. After several prototypes and pattern revisions, I constructed the romper and created the tech pack for the garment.

DIGITAL PATTERN DESIGN

70s Smash Hits

A Fall/Winter unisex collection of print, knit, and woven garments. This project was inspired by some of the most popular songs of the 1970's from all genres. Throughout the collection, I am demonstrating the songs I chose that best characterize the music of this era to me, including songs such as Heartbreaker by hard rock's Led Zeppelin, Stayin' Alive by The Bee Gees for disco, and Sweet Home Alabama by country rock artists Lynyrd Skynyrd. These patterns and texture maps were created using textile-based softwares including but not limited to Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, Kaledo Print, Weave, and Knit, and EAT DesignScope.

APPAREL SOFTWARE DESIGN

Early Bird on the Town

Early Bird on the Town is a Women's Spring/Summer 2018 clothing line targeted towards those who belong to the silent generation, ages 75 and older. This line was created so women can feel comfortable and fashionable while day-shopping. By using lighter weight fabrics allowing them to breathe, no one will feel sluggish when searching for their next great purchase.

CREATING OUR BUSINESS PLAN

Pop-Up & Up

For this group project, we were given the task to create a full business plan for a product or service we created. Pop-Up & Up creates a space for both up-and-coming and established businesses to physically place their product and/or service in a thriving metropolis area. Businesses who rely solely on e-commerce sales can create a temporary brick-and-mortar store with a real, tangible product/service available for the consumer. As the CEO of Pop-Up & Up, I am responsible for overseeing the development of the business.  I ensure that the company has proper registration and is ready for opening. I also serve as a member of the creative team to design the interior of the shop for each new contract. This is our presentation to go along with our written document.

KOHL'S PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT INTERVIEW PROJECT

Sonoma Goods For Life Competitive Analysis and White Space Opportunity

After researching Kohl's Sonoma Goods For Life, I developed the opportunity to connect outfits to each pair of shoes. This integrates a more personal feel to each item a consumer searches for and purchases from Kohl's.

FIRST FINAL GARMENT PRODUCTION

Women's Lined Jacket

For my final project, I decided to create a lined jacket using knit fabric with a faux fur trimmed hood. I completed everything from cutting out the pattern pieces to constructing the final garment. I was selected to walk this jacket in the Threads Fashion Show in December 2017. I also constructed the shift dress worn underneath the jacket.
